It has been planned to distribute Rs. 185 crore of crop loans this year in the Cauvery delta districts of Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam. Out of this so far Rs. 116.41 crore have already been distributed, said Ko. Si. Mani, State Co-operation Minister here on Saturday.

Inaugurating the online functioning of the branch of the Central Co-operative Bank, Thanjavur, functioning at the Cauvery super market complex from the bank’s main office on West Main street, Mr. Mani said that in Thanjavur district alone, Rs. 54.11 crore have been disbursed so far to 18,275 farmers covering 62,161 acres.

In Tiruvarur district Rs. 34.15 crore have been disbursed to 11,778 farmers covering 45,351 acres and in Nagapattinam district Rs. 28.15 crore have been disbursed to 11,795 farmers covering 34,294 acres.

The Minister said as per the assurance given by him in the Assembly, Central Co-operative Banks and Urban co-operative banks and their branches are computerised with a common software. Now, online operations are introduced in the branches step by step. In Thanjavur district, both branches of Thanjavur Central Co-operative Bank and Kumbakonam Central Co-operative Bank branches are computerised.

The minister distributed micro credit of Rs. 1.25 lakh to six small trade groups and Rs. 10.40 lakh to fourteen women Self Help Groups on the occasion. He also disbursed loans for purchasing milch animals, tractors, power tillers etc.

K. Sivaji, Joint Registrar of Co-operatives, Antonysamy John Peter, Special Officer of Thanjavur Central Co-operative Bank, Senthamilselvan, Additional Registrar of Co-operatives, participated in the function.
