May 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - TUTICORIN:

Construction workers staged a demonstration in front of the office of the Village Administrative Officers across the district on Tuesday to highlight their demands and submitted to them petitions to be forwarded to the Governor and the Chief Minister.

The petitions stated that the monthly pension for them should be increased to Rs.5,000 and the educational expenditure of their children borne by the Unorganised Sector Labourers’ Welfare Board. Besides clearing all applications seeking monthly pension, the upper age limit for getting this benefit should be reduced to 50 for women and 55 for men.
