DMK working President MK Stalin on Sunday said that Tamil Nadu would soon face Assembly elections even as he hit out at Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar for his remarks against him.

On T.T.V. Dhinakaran’s statement that the current Tamil Nadu government will fall and the State will face elections within December, he said: “We need not wait till December. Elections might come today or tomorrow,” Mr. Stalin told reporters after conducting an awareness campaign on dengue in his Kolathur constituency. He also slammed Mr. Vijaya Baskar’s remark that “Stalin has a black tongue and is a dangerous weapon.” Mr. Stalin said the Health Minister was not bothered about prevention of dengue and the deaths triggered by it.

The DMK leader also questioned the silence of Mr. Vijaya Baskar on the gutkha scam and also R.K. Nagar money trail. “The Health Minister had said in the Assembly that he would file a defamation case against a channel for airing news on the gutkha scam, but so far he has not filed. The Minister should answer why he has not yet filed a defamation case,” he said.

Mr. Stalin once again slammed the Central team which is on a visit to the State to review the dengue situation and sought a strong intervention from the Centre.
