Launching yet another ambitious campaign in an effort at capturing power in the 2016 Assembly elections, DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin said that he plans to meet one crore people in the State to dethrone the “anti-people” AIADMK government.

Unveiling a logo for his State-wide campaign ‘Namakku Naame Vidiyal Meetpu Payanam’ at Aralvoimozhi, the entry point of the Kanyakumari district on Sunday, he said that all sections of society had been affected in the past four-and-half years.

Declaring that he would carry out the campaign in three phases, Mr. Stalin said the first phase would end in Tiruchi on October 2. Setting a target of meeting one crore people in 12 days, he vowed to carry the message across the State that the AIADMK government had been following an anti-people policy.

Reiterating his oft repeated charge, he said the announcements made by the Chief Minister under rule 110 in the Assembly were not being implemented properly. He urged party MPs, MLAs and local body representatives to join in his campaign against the ruling government.

Later, Mr. Stalin flagged off campaign vans fitted with LED TVs. The party plans to screen documentaries explaining the hardships faced by people during the past four years in the State. Each van would screen the documentary for half an hour in 60 spots for two days.

Mr. Stalin also met religious leaders and senior citizens at a hotel in Nagercoil.

Our Dindigul Correspondent K. Raju adds:

Earlier, addressing a marriage function at Oddanchatram on Sunday, Mr. Stalin said,“It is time for all of us to settle public grievances ourselves and redeem the glory of the State.”

The Namakku Naame campaign would pave the way for bringing a political change in the State, he said.
