Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam working president M.K. Stalin has called secular parties to make a resolve to unseat the BJP from the Centre and AIADMK from the State and suggested that the Indira Gandhi birth centenary celebrations, held here on Saturday, should be the beginning.

Addressing the gathering of Congress, DMK, VCK, CPI, KMDK and a host of other parties workers, he said such a coalition of secular parties was necessary to protect the country from communal forces and the State from corruption-ridden AIADMK rule.

By introducing the NEET medical entrance examination and the Tamil Nadu Governor undertaking an ‘inspection’ in Coimbatore a few days ago, the State’s autonomy was under threat. The BJP government was eroding TN’s autonomy, he said and pointed out that it was not the case when Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister.

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president Su. Thirunavukkarasar wanted the Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate to share with people what they had unearthed in the recent raid across the State.

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thol. Thirumavalavan said the time had come for the Left parties to set aside their differences with the Congress to form a grand alliance as it had become imperative to save the country from the clutches of the BJP.

CPI leader D. Pandian said all secular parties should come together again.

Congress leaders K.V. Thangkabalu, M. Krishnasamy, K. Raju and K.R. Ramasamy, IUML leader H. Abdul Fasith, Manithaneya Makkal Katchi leader Tamimun Ansari, KMDK leader E.R. Eswaran and several others participated.
