The Department of Posts is conducting a special camp for opening of accounts under “Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme” on two Sundays — March 22 and 29 at selected post offices in Vellore division.
The Government of India had recently introduced the small savings scheme through India Post for the welfare of girl child. Coined as “Selvamagal Semipu Account,” around 2,500 new accounts have been opened under this scheme in Vellore division in the last one month, according to a press release.

Considering its popularity and demand, a special camp will function on the two Sundays at the Vellore Head Post Office, Gandhi Nagar Sub Post office, Sathuvachari Sub Post office, Vellore Fort Sub Post office, Thorapadi Sub Post office and Anaikattu Sub Post office, the release said.
