A total of 187 additional special buses comprising 31 government buses, 126 private buses and 30 minibuses would be operated on April 23 and 24 to enable the presiding officers and polling officers in charge of the various polling stations to reach their destination on time.
Appointment ordersRajendra Ratnoo, Collector-cum-District Electoral Officer, told presspersons that the presiding officers and polling officers would be given appointment orders for polling duties on completion of the final phase of training to be imparted to them in 11 schools and five colleges on April 23.
The Collector said that he had directed government officials to make arrangements for drinking water supply, toilets and shelter for the voters in the polling stations. A medical team comprising 10 doctors would be kept ready for emergency medical treatment to voters and polling officials.
Village Administrative Officers have been asked to provide drinking water, toilet facilities and accommodation to women polling officials. Mr. Ratnoo said that a special committee had been constituted to monitor the distribution of cash to voters on the polling day.
Uninterrupted powerSteps have been taken to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the polling stations on April 24. The Central Reserve Police Force and additional police personnel have been appointed to provide additional security to sensitive stations.
Minibuses and jeeps have been arranged to enable voters to reach polling stations located in hilly areas. Besides this, mini buses have also been provided to officials to reach the polling stations located in 28 remote hill villages.
The Collector said that the Personal Assistant (Agriculture) to the Collector has been appointed as the Nodal Officer to digitally record the details of polling in the 900 polling stations and feed them to the central server in the control room in the Collectorate.
Micro observersA total of 478 micro observers have been appointed to monitor polling at the booths. Of them, 24 have been kept in reserve. The presiding officers and polling officers would be issued photo identity cards along with their appointment orders.
