Site for model bus stand inspected

The government has decided to set up a model bus stand at Mayiladuthurai at a cost of Rs.20 crore, said G. Prakash, Director for Municipal Administration.

Inspecting the proposed site for the setting up of a model bus stand on the outskirts of Mayiladuthurai on Wednesday, he said that the government has come forward to construct a model bus stand at Manakudi, 3 km away from Mayiladuthurai, to decongest traffic within the town limit. The land acquisition process had been completed and officials were asked to complete the work within a year. He directed officials to ensure road facility, waiting sheds for passengers, rainwater harvesting structure and other basic amenities. Sub-Collector, Divya Dharshini, Regional Director for Municipalities, Shanthi, chairperson of Mayiladuthurai municipal council, Bhavani Sreenivasan accompanied him.
