Several districts set to receive more rains

Several districts across the State are set to receive more showers till Wednesday. The southwest monsoon, which set in over Kerala on Saturday, brought considerable rainfall in some districts of Tamil Nadu.

Devala in Nilgiris district received 8 cm, the highest in the past 24 hours ended 8.30 a.m. on Monday. Chinnakalar in Coimbatore district recorded a rainfall of 6 cm.

Several places in Kanyakumari district, including Colachel, Kuzhithurai and Thuckalay, also experienced rainfall.

Officials of the Meteorological department said that Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Salem and Erode districts that fall in the rain shadow region benefited most.

The weather station in Meenambakkam received 9 cm, the highest amount of rainfall in a day, according to officials.
