The Tamil Nadu Arambapalli Aasiriyar Koottani urged the State Government to set up separate hostels for girls in the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department run residential schools in the State.
The government should also appoint separate wardens for these hostels.
The shifting of the power of transfer / promotion of the teachers and other staff employed in the schools, additional charge, and other administrative matters to the purview of director of the department from the District Adi Dravidar Welfare Officer is posing a lot of difficulties to the teachers and others.
The Government should revert back the powers to the district Adi Dravidar Welfare Officers on the lines of the state school education department, the association pleaded.
The association also demanded that the funds allotted for the food expenses of the hostels of residential schools should be spent for that particular purpose only.
To press the above demands, the association staged a demonstration in the city on Wednesday.
