Security beefed up

Police have made elaborate security arrangements in view of the Republic Day to be celebrated at various parts of the district on Monday.

Over 500 policemen and officers have been deployed across Tirunelveli city and at Anna Stadium, where the Republic Day events will be held. Over 3,000 policemen have been pressed into service across the district to ensure incident-free celebrations.

Passengers are being frisked with hand-held metal detectors at Tirunelveli railway junction and their baggage is thoroughly checked.
