Production in the second unit of NLC Tamil Nadu Power Limited (NTPL) resumed on Thursday evening after annual maintenance works were completed. After mandatory checks, this unit was synchronized around 4.30 p.m.

Power generation from this unit touched 101 MW until 7.30 p.m. and the generation was expected to increase very soon, sources said. Power generation from the coal-based thermal power unit with a capacity of 500 MW was suspended on July 19. This unit was shut down and production suspended for a period of 15 days. A team of technical experts was involved in the maintenance work in this unit, which was commissioned in September 2015.

Since there was considerable generation of wind power, this unit was shut down for maintenance work. The first unit in the same plant with a production capacity of 500 MW has been functioning as usual, sources added.
