A 16-year-old schoolboy drowned in a farm well at Vadapudhupatti near here on Wednesday.
The deceased, Poonthamizhselvan, was a Plus One student. Police said the boy was bathing in the well along with his friends when he drowned in it.
Acting on information, Fire and Rescue Services personnel launched an operation to retrieve his body. A case has been registered in this connection.
