School vehicles checked

A joint committee of officials of three different departments inspected the condition of as many as 128 vehicles of the schools attached to the Sankagiri Regional Transport office on Saturday. The team led by C. Paul Princely Rajkumar, Revenue Divisional Officer and R. Senthilvelan, Regional Transport Officer, inspected the fitness of the vehicles under the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles (Regulation and Control of School Buses) Special Rules 2012.

The school managements without proper documents for the vehicles were directed to obtain the needed certificates and re-produce the vehicles for inspection within a week. A similar exercise was undertaken by the Transport Department officials in Omalur town on Saturday. As many as 145 vehicles belonging to 38 schools were inspected by the authorities.

While two vehicles where declared unfit, various discrepancies were noticed in a dozen other vehicles and the school managements were directed to rectify them immediately.
