Sand-laden lorries take new route

May 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:37 am IST - NAMAKKAL:

As instructed by the district administration, sand-laden lorries have started to use the new route from Friday.

With sand-laden lorries entering the town and causing traffic congestion, the need for alternative route was discussed at the road safety meeting. Presently, all lorries pass through Valayapatti, Sendamangalam and Budhansandai to reach the Salem – Namakkal National Highway. Hence, alternative route was discussed during the meeting and roads were extended accordingly.

As decided, vehicles towards Tiruchi will pass through the district through Vallipuram, Kanavaipatti, Lathuvadi, N. Pudupatti to reach Tiruchy Main Road. After loading at Tiruchi, vehicles will pass through Valayapatti, Tipramadevi, Alanganatham and Sendamangalam to reach Budhansandai. This will ensure free flow of movement of sand laden lorries and also will not cause inconvenience to the public.

The diversion was implemented on Friday with officials monitoring the movement of the lorries.
