Rs. 2.5-lakh accident relief disbursed

The Labour Welfare Office (Social Security Services) has given Rs. 2.5 lakh as accident relief to the relatives of two victims and an injured member of a welfare board.

A release issued by T. Lakshminarayanan, Labour Welfare Officer (SSS), said as per the orders of Commissioner of Labour P. Amutha, the compensation cheques were issued to the affected families in the presence of the Joint Commissioner of Labour, Madurai, and the Deputy Commissioner of Labour, Tirunelveli.

In the event of members of Tamil Nadu Construction Workers’ Welfare Board, Tamil Nadu Unorganised Workers’ Welfare Board and Tamil Nadu Unorganised Drivers’ Welfare Board suffering grievous injury or dying in accidents, it should be informed within three days of occurrence in prescribed form (Form B) to the Labour Welfare Officer (SSS) concerned and the local police station.

The attested copy of ration card, original membership card, Aadhaar card, first page of bank account pass book, FIR copy, death certificate and post-mortem certificate should be enclosed along with the filled-in form.

The Labour Welfare Board offered these services free of cost, hence, the members were advised not to approach middlemen and offer bribe.

The identity cards were being sent to the members through registered post, Mr. Lakshminarayanan added.
