Rs. 2 crore for tennis tournament

Chief Minister has also sanctioned Rs. 2 crore for the tournament in 2014, 2015 and 2016

As the main sponsor of the Chennai Open ATP Tennis, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Friday released Rs. 2 crore for the tournament to be held between December 30 and January 5.

A press release from the State government said the Chief Minister also sanctioned Rs. 2 crore for conducting the tournament in 2014, 2015 and 2016. The Chief Minister, following a request from the Tennis Association in 2012-13, increased the financial assistance from Rs. 1 crore to Rs. 2 crore. She also allotted Rs. 4.50 crore for developing playgrounds.
