Revoke suspension of DMK MLAs: Vaiko

August 24, 2016 08:34 am | Updated 08:34 am IST - Thoothukudi:

Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Vaiko has appealed for revocation of the suspension of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MLAs from the Assembly.

DMK treasurer and Opposition leader in the Assembly M.K. Stalin, along with his party MLAs, was evicted from the House and suspended for a week allegedly after a ruckus over an unparliamentary remark made by an All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MLA.

After attending the wedding of one of his party functionaries here on Monday, Mr. Vaiko told reporters that the suspension of MLAs was a tit-for-tat action. There were mistakes on both sides (the AIADMK and the DMK).

Nowhere in India, effigy of an Assembly Speaker was burnt by any party members. But, in Tamil Nadu, effigy of Speaker P. Dhanapal was burnt at many places and DMK president M. Karunanidhi did not condemn the act of his party cadres, he said.
