R.K.Bharathi Mohan, Member of Parliament, Mayiladuthurai, reviewed the progress of development works here on Monday.
Participating in the vigilance and monitoring committee meeting, he said priority would be given for construction of individual toilets, afforestation and other development activities in rural areas. The government has decided to construct 2,594 group houses under Indira Awas Yojana in 2014-15 and 1705 houses had been constructed and work for the remaining houses was going on and would be completed soon.
Works on laying 47 rural roads to a length of 107.42 km and five high level bridges were going on under Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana in different parts of the district.
The district administration had constructed 432 integrated woman sanitary complexes at a cost of Rs. 4.80 crores and it has given sanction for construction of 37 integrated men sanitary complexes in 2014-15 each at a cost of Rs. 5.50 lakhs. He directed officials to expedite the works. Collector S.Palanisamy and Project Officer of District Rural Development Agency R.Shankar attended the meeting.
