Stating that 15,000 to 20,000 lorry drivers and workers could be affected by the indefinite strike called by the Tamil Nadu Sand Lorry Owners Federation (TNSLOF), the State Lorry Owners’ Federation has sought the intervention of the State government to resolve the issue. In a release, its president K. Nallathambi said that the strike by the sand lorry owners in Namakkal, Salem, Karur, Erode and Tiruchi districts has entered the third day. “The strike has rendered lorry drivers and load men jobless, affecting their families,” he said.
