From July 3, residents can update their Aadhaar details at 10 post offices across the city.

The Department of Posts has entered into a tie-up with the Unique Identification Authority of India, New Delhi, to help people to update the details.

The service will be formally launched on July 3 at Anna Road head post office. Aadhaar updating facilities will be made available in Chennai GPO, Anna Road HPO, head offices in T.Nagar, Mylapore, St.Thomas Mount, Park Town and sub post offices in Anna Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Triplicane and Teynampet, a press release said.

According to officials, this scheme would be extended to 2,515 post offices across the State in a phased manner. This service would help residents to easily update details, such as change of address and mobile numbers on their Aadhaar card.

The department is also in the process of identifying more post offices to help residents enrol themselves for Aadhaar cards. Soon, residents may approach any branch post office with a computerised network to update information on Aadhaar card.

However, only select head post offices would provide the facility for residents to enrol themselves for Aadhaar card.
