The Tamil Nadu State Election Commission has ordered re-poll in seven booths that come within the limits of the Chennai Corporation. The re-poll will be held on October 20 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
According to a press release issued by the State Election Commission here on Tuesday, the seven booths are booth numbers 1740 (men), 1743 (men), 1746 (all voters), 1730 (men), 1730 (women), 1731 (all voters) and 1836 (women).
The orders were passed following a detailed exercise undertaken by the State Election Commission. The Commission called the complainants and conducted a thorough enquiry with them from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
Documents produced by the political parties and content on the compact discs produced as evidence were also viewed. The complaints were handed over to the District Election Officer and Corporation Commissioner and three district election observers, along with all other relevant documents. A report from the Commissioner of Police, Greater Chennai, was also sought and perused before the decision on re-polls was taken, the release said.
