RDOs empowered to act on land reforms

The authority to take action under the Land Ceiling Act in respect of Vellore district has been entrusted to the Revenue Divisional Officers of Vellore, Ranipet and Tirupattur revenue divisions.

According to a 'press release from R. Nanthagopal, Collector of Vellore, till now, the authority in the matters of land ceiling and land reforms with respect to the 11 taluks in Vellore district rested with the Assistant Commissioner (Land Reforms), Villupuram.

The Tamil Nadu government in its order G.O. No.34 (Revenue (L.R.-1 (2) dated January 14, 2015 transferred the powers to take action and redress the grievances under the Land Reforms Act to the RDOs of Vellore, Ranipet and Tirupattur. These officers will also act as land ceiling officers for the taluks coming under their respective divisions with effect from March 5 this year.

The Collector has requested the people of Vellore, Ranipet and Tirupattur revenue divisions to approach the concerned RDOs for redressal of their grievances with regard to land ceiling.
