Arasu Cable Operators Association has asked the Chief Minister to bestow her personal attention on the functioning of the Arasu Cable TV Corporation to protect the interests of its subscribers and operators.
N. Yuvaraj, State president of the association, in a memorandum, pointed out that the officials in the Corporation have misled the Chief Minister into inaugurating the digitised control room on October 20. It does not even have Digital Access System (DAS) licence.
He sought action against officials who collected Rs. 500 as deposit for set top boxes. The Cable TV Corporation had unilaterally chosen to enhance the charges for the operators (charges based on number of connections) ranging from 30 per cent to 100 per cent.
The Corporation has chosen to disconnect the services of operators who resisted the payment of these charges which was in violation of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (Inter Connection Regulation of 2004), he said.To resolve issues and ensure a smooth functioning, the Chief Minister should constitute an advisory committee with representatives of cable operators, Mr. Yuvaraj said
He called for ensuring speedy implementation of the resolutions passed and promises made to the cable operators at the meeting held on June 21 in Chennai.
