The annual credit plan of Rs. 4,188.51 crore for the district was released by Collector V. Dakshinamoorthy here recently.
The plan envisages flow of credit to the extent of Rs. 3,652.87 crore with priority given to crop loan at an outlay of Rs. 1,561.16 crore.
Other sectors that were given allocations were Rs. 38.95 crore for minor irrigation, Rs. 28.65 crore for land development, Rs. 80 crore for farm mechanization, Rs. 59.69 crore for plantation and horticulture and Rs. 50.50 crore for others. A sum of Rs. 541.78 crore was allotted for non-farm sectors while Rs. 983.50 crore was allotted for other priority sectors. Commercial banks are expected to provide Rs. 2,588.50 crore and Rs. 924 crore by cooperative banks. P. Thangavel, Deputy General Manager, Indian Bank, Salem Region, C. Malathy, Project Director, District Rural Development Agency and Project Officer Mahalir Thittam, S. Sundaresan, Assistant General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, S. Bhuvarahan, Assistant General Manager, NABARD, S. Chandrasekar, Lead Bank Manager, Indian Bank, Namakkal were present.
