A group of priests chanted slokas, standing in knee-deep water in a pond, on the premises of Thindal Velayuthasamy Temple to invoke divine intervention for rainfall, on Thursday.
The prayer conducted by six priests at the initiative of residents in surrounding localities lasted for nearly three hours. Contributions from the residents were utilised for an elaborate pooja in the temple and subsequent ‘annadhanam’. According to the local public, the pooja invoking ‘Varuna. Bhagavan’ in the previous instance 15 years ago was fruitful.
