A mobile voter service centre was set up in Dindigul to take all poll-related services to the voters’ door steps and to enrol more voters in polling stations that have low turnout, said Collector T.N. Hariharan.

Launching the mobile service centre at Balakrishnapuram here on Thursday, the Collector said that the mobile van would reach the areas and carryout enrolment on the spot. The election officials would verify their applications and issue voter ID cards. Meanwhile, voters can also verify their names in the electoral roll. This centre can be also used for including names of new voters, making addition and deletion of names and necessary corrections in the electoral roll. Voters can also register their names on payment of Rs.25 to get colour EPIC, he added.

This mobile centre would go to all places in the district and provide services to people at their door steps, he added. Already, permanent voter service centres have been functioning at the Collectorate, three RDO offices, nine tahsildar offices, one corporation office and three municipal offices in the district to cater to the needs of voters.
