Polling staff cast postal ballots

The government staff who will be involved in the poll works on the polling day cast their postal votes in all the 11 Assembly constituencies in the district on Saturday.

The district administration had set up postal voters’ service centres in all the constituencies in the district to enable the poll officials to cast their postal votes.

The following are the service centres where the government staff cast their votes: Gangavalli (reserved) constituency: Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Gangavalli; Attur (reserved): Government Boys HSS, Attur town; Yercaud: Minnampalli Mahendra Engineering College; Omalur: Fatima Girls HSS, Omalur town; Mettur: Madaiyankuttai MAM Matriculation HSS; Edappadi: Konganapuram AGN Matriculation HSS; Sankagiri: Sri Shanmuga Engineering College, Pullipalayam; Salem West: Thiagarajar Polytechnic College; Salem North: Jayaram Arts and Science College, Sinnatirupathi; Salem South: Sri Sakthi Kailassh Women’s College, and Veerapandi: Sri Vidya Bharathi Matriculation HSS, Neikarapatti.

The booth staff undergoing training in the centres cast their postal ballots during the course of the programme.

The District Collector and District Election Officer D. Karthikeyan inspected the polling for Salem North constituency in Jayaram Arts and Science College in the morning. The training schedule will be held on May 8, 9, 12 and 14 too and the polling staff can cast their votes on these days, a press release said.
