Even 10 days after the Supreme Court sentenced Calcutta High Court judge Justice C.S. Karnan to six months jail in a contempt case, the West Bengal police have not made any progress in tracing him.

A Constitution Bench headed by Chief Justice of India J.S. Khehar handed Justice Karnan a punishment of six months’ simple imprisonment after holding him guilty of contempt of court.

The Bench ordered the West Bengal DGP to execute the sentence immediately and take the judge into custody. On May 9, Justice Karnan spoke to reporters in Chennai and that was his last public appearance.

Justice Karnan’s legal adviser W. Peter Ramesh Kumar claimed that the judge was very much in Tamil Nadu.
