Followers of the Thamizhar Vazhvurimai Katchi were lathicharged by the police when they attempted to picket the office of the Union Minister of State for the Prime Minister’s Office V. Narayanasamy.

The TVK were protesting the silence on the part of the Central Government on the United Nations Human Rights Council vote.

Ten activists, including their leader Sridhar, were arrested.

According to Superintendent of Police (North) S. Ramaraj, the activists were being chased by the Congress workers and fearing that the situation would get out of hand, the police were forced to use lathis to disperse the crowd.

Students’ protest continues

Meanwhile, school and college students along with various organisations continued to protest and urged the territorial administration to pass a resolution in the Assembly to urge the Centre to vote against Sri Lanka on the U.S. sponsored resolution at the UNHRC.
