November 12, 2013 02:05 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 08:01 pm IST - CHENNAI:

The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), one of the vociferous opponents of India’s participation in the Commonwealth Heads of Meeting (CHOGM), will not attend the special sitting of the Tamil Nadu Assembly to adopt a resolution against India’s stand on the CHOGM.

The PMK has three MLAs in the Assembly and its legislative party leader Kaduvetti J. Guru has been detained under the National Security Act (NSA).

“He has been detained three times under the NSA and once it was modified to keep him in prison. Our party will boycott the Assembly session to express our protest against his arrest,” PMK sources said.

In the meantime, TNCC president B.S. Gnanadesikan said he had convened the meeting of the party MLA in the evening to discuss the issue. The Congress has five members in the House.
