The Kanyakumari District Rail Users’ Association (KDRUA) demands change in timings of Train No. 17235/36 operating between Bangalore and Nagercoil and stoppage at Karmeleram (CRLM) here on Thursday.
In a statement issued here, P. Edward Jeni, secretary of KDRUA said that the upward timings of the train is inconvenient to the passengers bound for Bangalore. The train scheduled to reach Bangalore at 9.05 hours is an inconvenience to the hundreds of people employed in the IT sector and students. The passengers have to lose half a day of attendance in their offices/colleges.
The running speed of the train can be increased to ensure it reaches Bangalore before 7.30 a.m..
Mr. Jeni said that it was the only train connecting the southern tip of the nation with Bangalore after passing through 11 districts in the State.
Stoppage
The association also appealed to the railway authorities to provide an additional stoppage at CRLM (Karmeleram), as it would benefit the passengers bound for South Bangalore.
The KDRUA was hopeful that the railway authorities would consider these issues before releasing the 2016 time table, Mr. Jeni said.
