Pass percentage comes down in Salem

Salem district registered 94.07 % pass in the SSLC examinations ranking 21 among the districts in the State. Last year the pass percentage was 94.21.

A total of 46,993 candidates – boys 23,690 and girls 23,303 from 520 schools (government schools 274, aided schools 35, self-financing schools 28 and matriculation schools 183) appeared for the public examinations, of which 44,206 candidates – boys 21,939 and girls 22,267 have come out successful.

As usual girls topped the list with a pass percentage of 95.55, followed by boys 92.61.

While Salem education district registered 93.64 % pass, Sankagiri education district managed 94.76 %.

A total of 178 schools have secured full pass – government schools 46, government aided schools 6, self-financing schools 11, matriculation schools 115.

A total of 274 government schools achieved 92.1 % pass, compared to last year’s 87.26 %.

Of the 25,682 government school students who appeared for the public examinations, 23,654 have come out successful, according to A. Gnana Gowri, Chief Educational Officer (CEO).

The list of government schools included 13 municipal schools, which managed 89.27 pass percentage. Of the 1,267 municipal school students who appeared for the examinations, 1,131 have come out successful.

A total of 3,779 students secured full marks in different subjects. While as many as 2,112 got full marks in social science, 868 scored full marks in mathematics, and 799 in science.
