K. Thangavel (32), a construction worker, and his wife Manimeghalai, both from Varadappapalayam in Kangayam taluk, presented a petition to the District Collector on Monday in which they alleged that their son was beaten by the school staff members while staying in the school hostel.

Some days back, his son was beaten up by a teacher and he sustained injuries to his head, stomach area and ear. When contacted, Rajeswari, the principal of the school, told The Hindu that the boy was not studying properly and was only mildly scolded by teachers but not beaten up.
