After his open letter to Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam on Saturday, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) treasurer M.K. Stalin continued his criticism of the Chief Minister on Sunday.

“Panneerselvam has not accepted himself as the Chief Minister,” Mr. Stalin told party cadre here at a mass marriage function organised by the party. “In Tamil Nadu, we have two Chief Ministers. One is the people’s Chief Minister, while the other is the benami [proxy] Chief Minister,” he said.

Mr. Stalin doubted if he would get a reply for his open letter to Mr. Paneerselvam. “He cannot answer them as he is either ashamed or afraid or thinks he is ineligible to be the Chief Minister,” he alleged. In fact, Mr. Panneerselvam still has a board in his office which states that he is the Finance Minister, the position he held before he became the Chief Minister six months ago, Mr. Stalin claimed.

Usually Chief Ministers have two offices. One at Fort St. George and the other at home (camp office). “Former Chief Minister [Jayalalithaa] had three offices – including the one at Kodanad,” he said. On the contrary, the present Chief Minister has no office at all, he said.

Appeal to people

He made an appeal to people to take into consideration the achievements and people-friendly schemes of the DMK government and injustice rendered to the people by the present government, before casting their vote in the 2016 elections.
