Three panchaloka idols were stolen from a Vaishnavite temple near Vandavasi in the intervening night between Saturday and Sunday.
The panchaloka ‘uthsavamurthis’ (idols) of Sri Adhikesava Perumal and his consorts Sridevi and Boodevi were stolen from Sri Adhikesava Perumal temple situated in Sountharyapuram village near Vandavasi.
While the Perumal’s idol is reportedly 21 inches high and other two are reportedly 18 inches in height.
A temple worker noticed the lock of the outer gate broken when she went to sweep the precincts on Sunday morning, as usual.
Later it became known that burglars have gone away with three panchaloka idols apart from a small bronze idol of Sri Krishna and a silver ornament. Vandavasi north police have booked a case.
