Train services needed
My husband and I had a bitter experience with private bus operators while travelling from Tirupadiripuliyur, Cuddalore to Puducherry. Three private buses refused to accommodate us because we had an average sized suitcase. All buses were also full. Finally, a supervisor of SETC requested a bus conductor to accommodate us, who also refused stating the bus is for passengers travelling long distance to Chennai, though Puducherry is a stop. We finally reached Puducherry rather late. Authorities must consider putting in place railway services between Puducherry and Cuddalore.

Essential utilities as freebies
With reference to Chief Minister N. Rangasamy’s announcement in the Budget for 2015-16 that free mixi and grinder would be given to all families in the Union Territory, I would like to suggest that it would be of more value if an induction cooker or colour television was provided as most homes already have the former appliances.
It would be more prudent to provide a list of essential household utilities and advise people to opt for any one or two items that they really require.

Discipline pet dogs
While there have been frequent complaints about community dogs in Puducherry, pet dogs are often causing anxiety in neighbourhoods. Many people let their dogs free in the morning on the streets, or take them for walks without a leash. Sometimes these dogs misbehave. It would be good on the part of owners to discipline their pet dogs, and take care when they take them outside.
