Onus on CM: Vaiko

Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami should take moral responsibility for the killing of 13 persons in police firing in Thoothukudi and tender his resignation, MDMK general secretary Vaiko has said.

Addressing mediapersons at the Coimbatore airport on Tuesday, he said the State government, which he claimed was a puppet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had planned to open fire on the protesters. “To justify the firing, the police set fire to vehicles in the industrial town. The police setting fire to vehicles and killing protesters was akin to Hitler setting fire to the Bundestag [the German Parliament], and pinning the blame on the Communists,” he said.

The AIADMK government had always supported the Sterlite management, he alleged.
