People from various parts of the district thronged the Collectorate here on Monday seeking old age pension.

Collector M. Ravikumar told the media that the old age pension was being provided after assessing eligibility criteria. Several petitions were received and only after examining the eligibility, orders for disbursal of such pension benefits would be issued.

On Monday last, around 800 petitions seeking old age pension were received and this week also similar number of petitions were expected. These benefits were given to most of the petitioners during the Jamabandhi held at eight taluks. During last month, 1,078 petitioners, who sought old age pension, were issued orders to receive it. As many as 45,380 persons were receiving the old age pension in the district, he said.
