Director of Horticulture and Plantation Crops Archana Patnaik reviewed the works being implemented under the Prime Minister’s Drip Irrigation and Precision Farming scheme here on Monday.
Ms. Patnaik inspected a special precision farming and drip irrigation project set up at Jadayampatty in 2015-16. She interacted with the farmers on the possibilities under drip irrigation and also visited the vegetable nursery set up at the government horticultural farm.
Earlier, Ms.Patnaik inspected farms that had set up precision farming and drip irrigation under the horticultural crop subsidy schemes. According to the administration, Rs.6 crore has been received towards Prime Minister’s Precision Farming Scheme for 2014-15 and 2015-16. Adidravidar farmers are encouraged to avail of the subsidy to set up farms under precision farming.
Reviewing the activities taken up under various horticultural projects, jointly with Collector K.Vivekanandan, Ms.Patnaik instructed officials to expedite works for setting up of a horticulture park at Vathalmalai. Earlier, the team also visited a demonstration farm set up by a farmer at Semmanhalli.
