Officials asked to ensure measures in place before monsoon

The district administration has asked departments concerned to ensure that all measures are in place to face the ensuing North-East monsoon.

A meeting to discuss the monsoon preparedness was conducted at the Collectorate on Friday in which Collector V. Sampath presided.

He asked officials to stock sufficient vaccines in hospitals and Primary Health Centres and also conduct special camps in fever-prone areas.

Also, all the overhead tanks in villages should be cleaned and chlorinated so that protected drinking water is supplied to the people. Also, he asked officials to send a report on the storage levels in lake, ponds and dams to the district administration everyday.

The Collector asked the corporation officials to carry out repair work to damaged roads and also ensure garbage is collected regularly. The stability of the schools and other buildings should be ensured and report should be submitted to the administration. The Fire and Rescue Services personnel, Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board and Highways Department should be ready to face any situation.

District Revenue Officer R. Sugumar, DRDA Project Director K. Kavitha, Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Dean Dr. P. Kanagaraj, Joint Director of Health Services Dr. M.R. Inbasekaran, Deputy Director of Health Services Dr. K. Poongodi and officials from various departments participated.
