Officials asked to ensure early completion of exhibition complex

Officials should ensure early completion of construction work of the permanent exhibition complex at an estimated cost of Rs. 2 crore in Kanyakumari, said Harmander Singh, Principal Secretary to Government, Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi Department here on Saturday.

Inspecting the ongoing construction works being undertaken by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) near light house along with Santhosh Babu, CMD, Tamil Handicrafts Corporation, R. Sudalaikkannan, Chief Executive Officer, Tamil Nadu Khadi Gram and Village Board and Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan, Mr. Harmander Singh instructed the officials to ensure proper lighting arrangements inside the exhibition complex and drinking water facilities.

The exhibition complex housing 36 shops was aimed at paving way for setting up handicrafts stalls from various states and providing 36 room facilities.

Besides these, landscaping and beautification works were being taken up at an estimated cost of Rs. 40 lakh in the exhibition complex by the consortium of Tamil Nadu Khadi Gram and Village Board, Handlooms, Tourism, Aavin and Poompuhar.

Mr. Harmandar Singh also held a review meeting with officials. P. Manisekaran, Executive Engineer, PWD (Buildings), S. Venkatachalapathy, Tourism Officer (in charge), K. Arunachalam, Assistant Director (Khadi and Village Board), S. Balu, Assistant Director, Handlooms.
