Now pay electricity bills at e-seva centres

Now, residents of Vellore can pay their electricity bills at the nearby government e-seva centres.

In a press release issued recently, Collector R. Nanthagopal said that there are total of 466 government e-service centres in Vellore district.

Of this, 13 centres are run at the taluk offices through the Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable Corporation, while 17 centres are functioning including at the District Collector’s office and other places.

Apart from these, 189 e-service centres are run by agricultural cooperative credit societies and 247 centres are being run by the village poverty reduction committees at village panchayats.

As of now, a number of services including certificates of the Revenue Department and marriage assistance scheme of the Social Welfare Department are being provided at these e-service centres.

In Tiruvannamalai

Similarly 300 e-Seva Centres run by several government agencies and governed by District e-Governance Society in Tiruvannamalai district started collecting electricity bills from Monday.

Eleven of the centres were run by Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation at eleven taluk offices, two of the centres were run by Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) including the one at the District Collectorate.

Around 96 centres were run by the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Socities (PACCS’) and 191 centres were run by the Village Poverty Reduction Committees (VPRCs).

These centres will save electricity consumers from going long distances to pay the electricity bills.

Instead they can use the service at the nearby e-Seva centres. District Collector A.Gnanasekaran asked people to make use of the new service.

Charges

The centres charge Rs.10 for the service upto 1,000 units. For 1,001 to 3,000 units the charge is Rs.20.

For 3,001-5,000 units the charge is Rs.30. For 5,001-10,000 units the charge is Rs.40. For above 10,000 units the charge is Rs.50.
