“No pressure was exerted on actor to join DMK”

Chief Minster M. Karunanidhi denied actor Kushboo was pressured to join the DMK.

Talking to mediapersons at Anna Arivalayam here on Friday, where the actor joined the party, he said the DMK did not resort to such tactics. Nor was Ms. Kushboo a person who would succumb to such pressure. But the Supreme Court's decision to dismiss all cases against her recently could be one reason why she joined the party.

Mr. Karunanidhi further said the actor's decision to join the party was not a sudden one. The move was initiated a month ago.

When newsmen asked whether Ms. Kushboo would be given a Rajya Sabha ticket or any party post, Mr. Karunanidhi said when he, K.Anbazhagan and M.K.Stalin joined the organisation, they did not expect any position in the party. But after seeing their work, partymen themselves gave them posts.

They owed their present position to the workers.

However, he added, Ms.Kushboo would associate herself with women and other wings of the party.
