No liquor sales

District Collector K. Maharabushanam ordered the closure of all liquor shops and bars attached to them in the district on April 2 in connection with Mahaveer Jayanthi.

Petitions given

The people presented petitions containing their grievances to Mayor S. Soundappan at the grievances redress meeting here on Tuesday. The residents of Makkan Street demanded that steps be taken to end mosquito menace, and wanted regular clearance of drainage. The Residents Association of Gorimedu Sri Maruthi Nagar wanted laying of main drinking water supply pipeline. The residents of Allukuttai Mettutheru demanded that road, and other infrastructure facilities be provided to them. K. R. Selvaraj, Corporation Commissioner, and other officials were present.
