New CoP assumes office in Tirupur

Inspector General of Police Sanjay Mathur, a 1994 batch Indian Police Service Officer, has assumed office as Commissioner of Police, Tirupur city on Sunday.

A native of Jaipur in Rajasthan, Mr. Mathur graduated in engineering studies before joining the IPS. A recipient of President’s Police Medal for meritorious service, Mr. Mathur began his career as an Assistant Superintendent of Police in Tirunelveli.

He had served in Intelligence Bureau as Joint Deputy Director on deputation and undergone advance trainings in various policing aspects in United States.

On getting promoted as Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mathur got postings as Commissioner of Police in Madurai and Tiruchi cities before joining Tirupur.

SP takes charge

E.S. Uma (49) took over as seventh Superintendent of Police of Tirupur district on Sunday.

She joined the Tamil Nadu police as a Deputy Superintendent of Police in 1999 and was later conferred Indian Police Service.

Ms. Uma had served as Superintendent of Police in Coimbatore, Pudukottai and Tiruchy districts and worked as Principal of Police Training College in Chennai in the rank of SP, before taking over as SP in Tirupur district.

A native of Thoothukudi district, Ms. Uma had succeeded S. Santhi, who took over as first SP of Tirupur on February 28, 2009; A. Arun, V. Balakrishnan, Asra Garg, Amit Kumar Singh and Saroj Kumar Thakur in the chronological order.
