New clothes, blankets given at old age home for Pongal

R. Nanthagopal, Collector of Vellore and the president of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Vellore district branch, distributed new clothes for Pongal and blankets to the inmates of the Old Age Home run by the IRCS branch at Poigai near here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Nanthagopal appealed to the inmates of the home to maintain cleanliness in the home. He also asked them to maintain in good condition the materials gifted to the home by various voluntary organisations and philanthropists.

Ganesan, chairman of the old age home; Susheela Sooryaprakash, District Chairperson; Indernath, secretary; and Pandian treasurer of the IRCS branch; Thilagavathi Ramiah, honorary secretary of the Indian Council for Child Welfare, Vellore; Ravishankarnath, personal assistant (development) to the Collector; and M. Vijayakumar, District Information and Public Relations Officer participated in the function.
