Corporation middle school at Mettupalayam in Tirupur city, which has been facing infrastructure bottlenecks, got a newly constructed academic block commissioned on Sunday.
The new block, with six classrooms constructed at a total outlay of Rs. 46.4 lakh, has come up in the place of an old dilapidated block which was demolished a few years back.
Project cost
M. Susheela, headmistress of the six-decade old school, said of the total project cost, Rs. 28.4 lakh was taken from the Corporation exchequer while the remaining amount was allocated from the constituency development fund of the MLA (Tirupur North constituency).
“With this, the school has nine classrooms for 300 students,” she said.
The facility was inaugurated by Minister for Forests M.S.M. Anandan in the presence of Collector G. Govindaraj, Mayor Visalakshi Appukutty, Corporation Commissioner M. Ashokan, councillors and officials.
