NCC seminar on yoga

Simultaneous performance by cadets all over the world

The nearly 12 lakh National Cadet Corps cadets all over India would be performing Yoga simultaneously on June 21. Coinciding with the International Yoga Day it is an attempt to create a world or national record.

The event is being held as per a decision taken at a meeting of the Deputy Director-Generals of NCC.

The meet was convened by the NCC Director-General in New Delhi recently, according to Babu Francis, Director, NCC Directorate, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chennai.

Participating in a seminar organised in connection with the proposed national Yoga event at the office of the 10 Tamil Nadu NCC Battalion here recently, Col. Francis said that the decision has been taken in response to the request made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Director General during the Republic Day rally held in Delhi.

He appealed to the NCC Officers of the Battalion to take sincere efforts to ensure that all the cadets in the Vellore Battalion participated in the event.

The NCC Directorate was taking steps to increase the strength of NCC cadets in India in phases, he said.

The Director presided over a military farewell given to Rajesh Kumar Nair, Commanding Officer of the Vellore Battalion who has been transferred to Kerala.
