Two hundred and fifty NCC cadets participated in an awareness rally on rainwater harvesting organised here on Monday as part of the ongoing 10-day Combined Annual NCC Training Camp being held at the Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Gandhinagar under the auspices of the 10 Tamil Nadu NCC Battalion, Vellore.
The cadets carried placards containing slogans such as, ‘Semippom Semippom-Mazhaineerai Semippom’ (Let us save, let us save, let us save rainwater’), ‘Vinnin Mazhaithuli-Mannin Uyir Thuli’ (the sky’s raindrops are the life drops of the soil) and ‘Mazhaineer Semippu Thottigal Katti Nilathadi Neerai Perukkuvom’ (let us build rainwater harvesting pits and augment the groundwater resources). The rally started from the Don Bosco MHSS and returned to the same venue after passing through the main and cross roads in Gandhinagar East.
Lt. Col. R. Suresh Kumar, Commanding Officer of the Vellore Battalion flagged off the rally.
Officers of the battalion and NCC Officers of various schools in Vellore district participated in the rally.
